In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of embedded system development. This includes architectural design, selection of microcontrollers and peripherals, schematic capture, PCB layout guidance, firmware development, testing, and documentation. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test embedded software for microcontrollers and microprocessors.
- Contribute to hardware-software co-design, including schematic review and PCB layout feedback.
- Implement and optimize communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, USB).
- Develop device drivers for various peripherals and sensors.
- Debug complex embedded systems using appropriate tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers).
- Write comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications and test plans.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and test teams to ensure seamless product integration.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain high standards of code quality.
- Research and evaluate new technologies to improve product performance and features.
- Provide technical support throughout the product development lifecycle and post-release.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems development.
- Experience with various microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex-M/R/A, PIC, AVR).
- Solid understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) concepts and implementation.
- Familiarity with embedded communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet).
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for embedded hardware and software.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and datasheets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with Python scripting for test automation or development tools.
- Knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) or control systems.
- Familiarity with hardware design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Eagle, KiCad).
- Experience with low-power embedded design and battery-powered devices.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles for embedded systems.
