Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and empathetic Employee Relations Specialist to join our dynamic, remote-first team. In this ‘Work from Anywhere’ role, you will be instrumental in fostering positive employee-employer relationships and ensuring a fair, respectful, and legally compliant workplace across various client organizations. As our Employee Relations Specialist, you will be the primary point of contact for employees and management regarding a wide range of HR issues, including grievances, disciplinary actions, performance management, harassment claims, and policy interpretation. You will conduct thorough investigations, provide impartial advice, and recommend appropriate resolutions in line with company policies, collective agreements (where applicable), and employment law. This role requires exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of HR best practices, and the ability to navigate sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism. You will play a crucial role in developing and delivering training on HR policies and employee relations topics, promoting a culture of respect and understanding. Furthermore, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of our ER frameworks, ensuring they are robust, adaptable, and align with evolving workplace trends and legislation. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints, grievances, and alleged policy violations, including harassment, discrimination, and misconduct.
- Provide expert consultation and guidance to managers and employees on employee relations matters, performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
- Develop, interpret, and ensure consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and relevant employment laws (e.g., ESA, Human Rights Code).
- Mediate disputes between employees or between employees and management, facilitating constructive dialogue and mutually agreeable solutions.
- Prepare comprehensive investigative reports, documenting findings, conclusions, and recommended actions.
- Collaborate with legal counsel, when necessary, on complex employee relations cases.
- Design and deliver training programs for managers and employees on topics such as conflict resolution, harassment prevention, and performance feedback.
- Analyze ER trends and metrics to identify root causes, recommend proactive interventions, and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
- Support the development and implementation of employee engagement initiatives.
- Maintain meticulous and confidential records of all employee relations cases.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of dedicated experience in Employee Relations, HR Generalist, or a similar role.
- Proven experience conducting complex workplace investigations from intake to resolution.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian employment law (e.g., Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act) and HR best practices.
- Exceptional mediation, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate impartiality.
- Proficiency in HRIS and case management systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation.
- Experience working with diverse client portfolios or in a consultancy environment.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and unionized environments.
