Are you a seasoned Employee Relations professional passionate about fostering positive workplace cultures, resolving complex issues, and championing fairness? Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Employee Relations Specialist to join our dynamic and fully remote team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in maintaining a harmonious and productive work environment for our growing distributed workforce. You will serve as a trusted advisor, mediator, and expert on employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with all relevant labor laws and internal policies.
Working from anywhere, you will manage and resolve a variety of employee relations issues, from initial intake and investigation to resolution and documentation. This includes addressing concerns, conducting impartial investigations into allegations of misconduct, harassment, or policy violations, and providing guidance to managers and employees on best practices. You will play a crucial role in developing and implementing ER strategies that support our organizational values, promote inclusivity, and mitigate risks. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough, unbiased, and timely investigations into complex employee relations issues, including harassment, discrimination, and misconduct, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies.
- Provide expert guidance and coaching to managers and employees on a wide range of employee relations topics, performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
- Develop, implement, and interpret HR policies and procedures related to employee relations, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and mediation sessions, fostering positive communication and constructive outcomes.
- Collaborate with legal counsel, HR business partners, and other stakeholders to address intricate ER cases and ensure appropriate resolutions.
- Analyze ER data and trends to identify root causes, recommend proactive solutions, and contribute to the development of a positive workplace culture.
- Design and deliver training programs for managers and employees on topics such as effective communication, conflict resolution, and preventing harassment.
- Maintain meticulous records of all employee relations cases, investigations, and resolutions, adhering to strict confidentiality standards.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in Employee Relations, HR Business Partnering, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian employment law, including the Employment Standards Act (ESA), Human Rights Code, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Proven ability to conduct objective and sensitive investigations, gathering evidence, interviewing parties, and writing comprehensive reports.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, influence, and mediate effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of navigating complex situations and recommending practical solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and act with integrity and discretion.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) or CPHR designation.
- Experience working in a remote or distributed work environment.
- Experience with restorative justice practices or alternative dispute resolution techniques.
- Familiarity with HR technology platforms and case management systems.
