Job Description

As a Work from Anywhere Employee Relations Specialist at Career.zycto, you will be a pivotal force in maintaining a positive, equitable, and legally compliant workplace culture across our operations and for our diverse clientele. This remote role offers the flexibility to contribute your expertise from any location, while being deeply integrated into a supportive and forward-thinking HR team. You will be instrumental in fostering strong employer-employee relationships, proactively identifying and addressing workplace issues, and ensuring adherence to company policies and employment law.

Your daily work will involve a broad spectrum of activities, from conducting thorough investigations into complex employee grievances, disciplinary actions, and policy violations, to providing expert guidance to management on employee performance, conflict resolution, and change management. You’ll be a trusted advisor, mediator, and advocate, ensuring fair and consistent application of HR policies and practices. This role demands a high degree of discretion, empathy, analytical prowess, and an unwavering commitment to ethical standards. We are looking for someone who can navigate sensitive situations with tact, build rapport with diverse individuals, and implement solutions that uphold both employee rights and organizational objectives.

Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing employee relations strategies, contributing to the creation of training programs, and analyzing ER trends to recommend proactive interventions. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into employee complaints, grievances, and alleged policy violations, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate documentation.
  • Provide expert guidance and coaching to managers and employees on a wide range of employee relations issues, including performance management, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and policy interpretation.
  • Develop, implement, and interpret HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and align with best practices.
  • Facilitate mediation and conflict resolution processes to foster positive working relationships.
  • Partner with legal counsel when necessary on complex employee relations matters.
  • Analyze employee relations trends and data to identify systemic issues and recommend proactive solutions or training initiatives.
  • Manage and coordinate disciplinary processes, including documentation, meetings, and follow-up.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training programs for managers and employees on topics such as harassment prevention, respectful workplace, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (4+ years) as an Employee Relations Specialist or similar HR role.
  • Deep understanding of Canadian employment law (e.g., Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code in Ontario).
  • Exceptional investigation and problem-solving skills with a high degree of impartiality and discretion.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  • Excellent mediation and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and case management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
  • A solid understanding of HR best practices and ethical standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CHRP or CHRL designation (Certified Human Resources Professional/Leader).
  • Experience working in a fully remote or distributed team environment.
  • Familiarity with HR analytics and reporting to identify trends.
  • Post-graduate certificate or degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience in diverse industries or consulting environments.
