Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of designated areas, both internal and external, to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, fire, and vandalism.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly and appropriately to any alerts or suspicious activities.
- Control access to the premises, verifying identification and issuing visitor badges as per established security procedures.
- Document all incidents, observations, and daily activities thoroughly in detailed reports.
- Respond to emergencies such as medical incidents, fires, and security breaches, initiating emergency protocols and coordinating with emergency services when necessary.
- Enforce company policies and procedures related to security and safety.
- Provide excellent customer service and assistance to staff, visitors, and contractors while maintaining a professional security presence.
- Identify and report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or maintenance issues.
- Perform routine checks of doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are properly secured.
Required Skills
- Valid BC Security Worker License (BST)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a security role
- Excellent observational and analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities in English
- Ability to operate surveillance equipment and security systems
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
- Basic computer proficiency for report writing and communication
- Physical fitness to perform duties including walking, standing for long periods, and occasional lifting
