Job Description

Dream Big Events Mauritius is seeking a highly creative, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented Event Decorator to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about transforming spaces and creating visually stunning environments for various events. As an Event Decorator, you will be instrumental in conceptualizing, designing, and implementing decor schemes that align with our clients’ visions and event themes. You will work closely with our event planners, clients, and suppliers to ensure all decorative elements are perfectly executed, from floral arrangements and lighting to props, backdrops, and table settings.

Your role will involve a blend of creative design, hands-on setup, and logistical coordination. You will be expected to stay updated on the latest decor trends, source materials efficiently, and manage inventory effectively. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients and event planners to understand decor requirements, themes, and budgets.
  • Develop creative and innovative decor concepts, mood boards, and detailed design plans.
  • Source, select, and procure decorative materials, including floral arrangements, props, linens, lighting, and furniture.
  • Manage inventory of decor items, ensuring proper storage, maintenance, and readiness for events.
  • Oversee the setup and dismantle of event decorations on-site, ensuring timely and flawless execution.
  • Work hands-on with the event team during installation, often involving physical labor.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current decor trends, techniques, and innovative design solutions.
  • Adhere to safety standards and company policies during all phases of event decor.
  • Manage decor budgets and ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • Provide excellent client service, ensuring satisfaction with all decor aspects.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Event Decorator or similar creative role.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing event decor design and execution.
  • Exceptional creativity and an eye for aesthetics and detail.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and move decor items.
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability in fast-paced environments.
  • Fluency in English and French (Creole also beneficial).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Event Management, Interior Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
  • Experience with various types of events (weddings, corporate, social).
  • Knowledge of local suppliers and vendors in Mauritius.
  • Experience in lighting design and stage setup.
