Zanzibar Event & DMC is seeking a motivated and reliable Part-Time Event Sound Setup Assistant to join our growing team in Mangapwani, Zanzibar. As an Event Sound Setup Assistant, you will play a crucial role in bringing our events to life, ensuring that all audio equipment is expertly set up, maintained, and dismantled across various spectacular venues in Zanzibar. You’ll work closely with our experienced sound technicians, learning the intricacies of event production, from basic cabling to speaker placement and microphone management. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead sound technicians with the loading, unloading, and transportation of audio equipment to and from event sites.
  • Execute the setup and dismantling of sound systems, including speakers, subwoofers, monitors, microphones, mixing consoles, amplifiers, and associated cabling.
  • Properly coil, label, and store cables and accessories, ensuring equipment is kept organized and in excellent condition.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of audio equipment under supervision to ensure optimal performance during events.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, both at the warehouse and on event locations.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company guidelines for equipment handling and event site operations.
  • Collaborate effectively with the entire event production team, including lighting, staging, and logistics personnel.
  • Prepare equipment for upcoming events, checking for functionality and completeness.
  • Provide on-site support during events as needed, including minor adjustments and quick fixes.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 25 kg).
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic problem-solving aptitude.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules.
  • A keen interest in audio technology and live event production.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in event setup, stagehand work, or a similar hands-on role.
  • Basic knowledge of audio equipment operation (e.g., mixers, microphones, speakers).
  • Technical aptitude and a willingness to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Fluency in both English and Swahili is highly advantageous for effective communication.
  • Possession of a valid local driving license (motorcycle or car) is a plus.
