Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychological, and social aspects.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately and safely.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, symptoms, and medical information, reporting changes to physicians.
  • Provide wound care, perform minor medical procedures, and assist with examinations.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (doctors, therapists, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulations.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, providing life support where necessary.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for all patients.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and safety standards.
  • Act as a patient advocate, ensuring patient rights and preferences are respected.

Required Skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Jamaica (or eligibility for licensure)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital ward setting
  • Proficiency in clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacology and medication administration
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and patient-centered care approach
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Experience in specialized wards (e.g., ICU, ER, Medical-Surgical)
  • Leadership or charge nurse experience
  • Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish)
