Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychological, and social aspects.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately and safely.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Monitor and record vital signs, symptoms, and medical information, reporting changes to physicians.
- Provide wound care, perform minor medical procedures, and assist with examinations.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (doctors, therapists, etc.).
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, providing life support where necessary.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for all patients.
- Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and safety standards.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring patient rights and preferences are respected.
Required Skills
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Jamaica (or eligibility for licensure)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital ward setting
- Proficiency in clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology and medication administration
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and patient-centered care approach
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
