Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Manager to join our dynamic team in Ratho, Edinburgh. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage strategic facilities plans, including maintenance schedules, capital projects, and space planning.
  • Oversee all daily operational aspects of the facility, ensuring optimal functionality, cleanliness, and safety standards.
  • Manage and negotiate contracts with external vendors, contractors, and service providers, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality service delivery.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of facilities staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., COSHH, fire safety, disability access).
  • Prepare and manage facilities budgets, track expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Respond promptly to facility-related emergencies, coordinate repairs, and implement preventative measures to minimize disruptions.
  • Implement sustainable practices and initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint of the facility.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Facilities Management.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and budget management.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH).
  • Proven ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts effectively.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in facilities management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as IWFM (Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management) or equivalent.
  • Experience with sustainable building practices and energy management systems.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP).
