Maluti Fresh Produce is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm Helper to join our team in Ha Ralipoli, Mafeteng. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planting, cultivating, and harvesting of various crops according to seasonal schedules and farm management instructions.
- Prepare soil for planting, including tilling, fertilizing, and creating seedbeds.
- Perform weeding, thinning, and pest control tasks to ensure optimal crop health and growth.
- Operate and maintain basic farm machinery and tools safely and efficiently, under supervision.
- Irrigate crops as required, ensuring proper water distribution to maximize yield.
- Assist with the sorting, grading, packing, and loading of harvested produce for transport.
- Participate in general farm maintenance, including fence repair, cleaning farm areas, maintaining structures, and clearing debris.
- Monitor crop conditions and report any issues, diseases, or concerns to the farm supervisor promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and agricultural best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
- Support other farm duties as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the farm.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects safely (up to 25 kg) for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of agricultural practices or a strong willingness to learn and adapt.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately and meticulously.
- Basic problem-solving skills for addressing daily farm challenges.
- Good verbal communication skills in Sesotho or English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working on a farm or in an agricultural setting (minimum 6 months).
- Knowledge of local farming techniques and crop varieties common in Lesotho.
- Experience operating basic farm equipment (e.g., rototillers, irrigation pumps).
- A valid driver's license (Class B or higher) if operating farm vehicles is required.
- A certificate or diploma in agriculture or a related field is considered a valuable asset.
