Job Description

Lesotho Flour Mills is seeking a diligent and physically capable Farm Helper to join our team for an immediate start in Khubetsoana, Maseru. This crucial role supports the upkeep and maintenance of our grounds, any potential experimental agricultural plots, or community-based farming initiatives within our operational vicinity. As a Farm Helper, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our agricultural support areas are well-maintained, productive, and contribute to the overall efficiency and sustainability of our operations. This is a hands-on position, ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is committed to hard work, and takes pride in seeing the fruits of their labor.

Your day-to-day activities will involve a variety of tasks, from preparing soil and planting crops (if applicable to specific projects), to weeding, watering, and harvesting. You will also be responsible for general site maintenance, including landscaping, clearing debris, and operating basic farm equipment safely and effectively. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in agricultural support within a reputable company, contributing directly to an essential industry. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general manual labor tasks such as tilling soil, planting seeds, weeding, watering, and harvesting crops.
  • Operate and maintain basic farm machinery and tools, including mowers, tillers, and hand tools, ensuring their proper function and care.
  • Assist with the preparation and application of fertilizers and pest control measures under supervision.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of irrigation systems and ensure efficient water usage.
  • Clean and maintain farm buildings, storage areas, and equipment to ensure a safe and tidy working environment.
  • Assist in loading and unloading agricultural supplies and harvested produce.
  • Monitor crop health and report any signs of disease, pests, or unusual growth to supervisors.
  • Participate in general landscaping and groundskeeping activities around company premises.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines and procedures.
  • Support other team members and perform additional duties as required to ensure smooth operations.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods, including lifting, bending, and standing.
  • Basic understanding of agricultural practices and plant care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license (Code B or higher) would be an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Sesotho and/or English.
