Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in comprehensive training programs on fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance.
- Assist senior technicians with the installation, termination, and splicing of fiber optic cables in various environments (aerial, underground, indoor).
- Learn to interpret engineering schematics, blueprints, and circuit diagrams to ensure accurate installations.
- Conduct routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot network issues to ensure optimal performance.
- Operate specialized fiber optic equipment, including fusion splicers, OTDRs (Optical Time Domain Reflectometers), and power meters.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, industry standards, and company policies.
- Document work performed, including detailed reports of installations, repairs, and test results.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in good working order.
- Provide professional and courteous service to clients and communicate effectively with team members.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Basic understanding of electronics or electrical concepts is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and in confined spaces or at heights.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as required by the job.
