Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer with a strong background in accounting and financial reporting to join our dynamic team in La Louise, Quatre Bornes. This pivotal role requires a professional who is not only adept at managing day-to-day financial operations but also possesses the analytical skills to contribute to strategic financial insights. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, examine, and analyse accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformity to reporting and procedural standards.
- Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and statutory requirements.
- Manage general ledger accounts, including reconciliation of bank statements, supplier statements, and inter-company balances.
- Prepare and submit tax declarations (VAT, PAYE, APS, Corporate Tax) as per local regulations and deadlines.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Monitor cash flow and financial transactions, identifying discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
- Liaise with clients, auditors, banks, and other third-party service providers as required.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably within a corporate services or financial sector.
- Proven experience in preparing financial statements and reports.
- In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French.
Preferred Qualifications
- ACCA, ACA, CIMA qualification (partly or fully qualified).
- Experience with a global corporate services provider.
- Knowledge of tax regulations in Mauritius.
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Ability to manage multiple client portfolios simultaneously.
