Key Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
- Process payroll and ensure timely payment of statutory deductions.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial information.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Proven working experience as a Finance Officer or in a similar financial role (minimum 3 years).
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Sage).
- Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and manage time effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA (K) or ACCA qualification.
- Experience working in an NGO or a dynamic operational environment.
- Familiarity with Kenyan tax regulations and compliance.
- Experience in financial data analysis and presentation.
