Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer with a strong background in accounting to join our dynamic team at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi. This professional role is critical to maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of Swissport Kenya. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing various financial operations, ensuring compliance with both internal policies and external regulatory requirements, and supporting strategic financial planning. You will be responsible for a broad range of accounting duties, from daily transactional processing to contributing to monthly and annual financial closures. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and customer billing.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations on a regular basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS and local accounting standards.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing accurate financial data and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax, assisting with timely filings.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and manage depreciation calculations.
  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and financial performance, reporting on key indicators.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and operational alignment.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Finance Officer, Accountant, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices (IFRS).
  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., SAP, Oracle Financials, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA (K) or ACCA qualification in progress or completed.
  • Experience in the aviation, logistics, or related service industry.
  • Familiarity with Kenyan tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience with an ERP system specific to a large-scale operations environment.
