Are you a highly skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator looking for a challenging night shift role with an immediate start? Career.zycto is seeking dedicated individuals to join our bustling logistics team in Layerthorpe, York. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced operator to play a crucial role in our night operations, ensuring the efficient movement and storage of goods within our state-of-the-art warehouse facility. As a Night Shift Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks vital to our supply chain. This includes loading and unloading delivery vehicles, accurately storing products in designated locations, and ensuring all movements are conducted safely and efficiently. You’ll operate Counterbalance and Reach trucks, handling a diverse range of inventory with care and precision. Attention to detail is paramount, as you’ll be checking loads for damage, performing routine equipment checks, and contributing to a tidy and organised workspace. We operate in a fast-paced environment, so your ability to work quickly while strictly adhering to safety protocols is key. You’ll collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure seamless transitions between shifts and consistent productivity. Key Responsibilities
- Operate Counterbalance and Reach Forklifts safely and efficiently for loading, unloading, and moving products.
- Accurately pick, stack, and stage goods for shipment, ensuring proper documentation.
- Perform daily pre-shift equipment checks and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Load and unload materials from trailers and containers, verifying quantities and checking for damage.
- Organise and maintain the warehouse layout, ensuring clear aisles and safe storage practices.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and operational procedures.
- Assist with manual handling tasks and general warehouse duties as required.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to meet daily targets.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, including equipment and surrounding environment.
- Participate in inventory counts and help resolve discrepancies.
Required Skills
- Valid and current Forklift Truck (FLT) licenses (Counterbalance and Reach).
- Minimum of 12 months experience operating forklifts in a busy warehouse or logistics environment.
- Proven understanding and adherence to warehouse safety protocols.
- Ability to work effectively during night shifts.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling goods.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).
- First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with various types of goods and packaging.
