Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and meticulous French Translator to join our dynamic team in Le Hochet. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring seamless and accurate communication between English and French, supporting our diverse client base and internal operations. This role demands exceptional linguistic proficiency, a deep understanding of cultural nuances, and the ability to handle a wide array of content types, from technical documentation and marketing collateral to legal texts and corporate communications. You will be responsible for translating, reviewing, and proofreading various materials, ensuring linguistic precision, stylistic appropriateness, and adherence to specific brand guidelines and terminology glossaries.
Your day-to-day will involve utilizing Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools and translation memory software to optimize efficiency and maintain consistency across projects. You will collaborate closely with project managers, other linguists, and subject matter experts to clarify content, resolve linguistic queries, and ensure that all translated materials meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent time management skills, capable of meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment without compromising on quality. Key Responsibilities
- Translate a wide range of documents from English to French and French to English, ensuring accuracy, linguistic quality, and cultural relevance.
- Proofread and edit translated materials to ensure grammatical correctness, stylistic consistency, and adherence to client-specific terminology and guidelines.
- Utilize Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, translation memory, and terminology management systems efficiently.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and subject matter experts to clarify content and resolve linguistic ambiguities.
- Manage multiple translation projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet strict deadlines.
- Maintain high standards of quality and consistency across all translated content.
- Conduct research to ensure accurate terminology and cultural appropriateness.
- Provide linguistic feedback and support to other team members as needed.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of glossaries, style guides, and translation memories.
Required Skills
- Native-level proficiency in French (both written and spoken)
- Excellent command of English (both written and spoken)
- Proven experience with Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools (e.g., SDL Trados, MemoQ, Wordfast)
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong understanding of cultural nuances in both French and English-speaking markets
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Translation, Linguistics, French Studies, or a related field
- Prior experience working as a professional translator, especially in a BPO or corporate environment
