Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Front Desk Clerk to join our vibrant team at Protea Hotel by Marriott Springs. Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival, performing efficient check-ins and check-outs according to hotel procedures.
  • Handle all guest inquiries, requests, and concerns promptly, professionally, and courteously, ensuring a positive resolution.
  • Manage reservations, including making new bookings, modifying existing ones, and processing cancellations through the hotel's Property Management System (PMS).
  • Process payments, handle cash, credit card transactions, and maintain accurate billing records with strict adherence to financial policies.
  • Answer multi-line phone systems, direct calls appropriately, and provide information regarding hotel services, facilities, and local attractions.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized front desk and lobby area, ensuring all supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Collaborate effectively with other hotel departments, such as housekeeping and maintenance, to fulfill guest requests and resolve issues.
  • Provide information about hotel loyalty programs and encourage guests to enroll.
  • Perform night audit duties as required, ensuring all daily transactions are accounted for and reconciled.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proven customer service experience, preferably in a hospitality or service-oriented role.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Problem-solving aptitude with a calm and professional demeanor under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with a Property Management System (PMS), such as Opera.
  • Prior experience in a hotel front desk role.
  • A certificate or diploma in Hospitality Management or a related field.
  • Knowledge of an additional South African official language.
