Job Description
We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Full-Time Accountant to join our finance team at our Kadoma operations. In this critical role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing comprehensive financial reports, and ensuring strict compliance with all local and international regulatory requirements. This position demands an individual with a profound understanding of accounting principles, exceptional analytical capabilities, and the proven ability to contribute significantly to our operational efficiency and fiscal health. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the financial integrity of our mining activities, providing invaluable insights that empower informed strategic business decisions. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and examine financial statements, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/IAS).
- Manage all general ledger accounts, including thorough reconciliations, precise journal entries, and efficient month-end close processes.
- Assist proactively with the preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and detailed variance analysis reports to aid strategic planning.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable diligently, ensuring timely and accurate transactions with vendors and clients.
- Reconcile bank statements and various other financial accounts regularly to ensure consistency and prevent discrepancies.
- Assist actively with internal and external audits, providing all necessary documentation and clear explanations.
- Ensure strict compliance with local tax regulations and meticulously prepare and submit all required tax returns.
- Maintain up-to-date asset registers and conduct regular, accurate inventory verification processes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes, financial systems, and internal control frameworks.
- Provide robust financial analysis and comprehensive reporting to management as and when required for decision-making.
Required Skills
- Proven experience of at least 3 years as an Accountant or in a similar financial role.
- Solid and demonstrable understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel, SAP, Oracle) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial information clearly.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
- Strong ethical conduct, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Zimbabwean tax laws and financial regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CA (Z)).
- Direct experience within the mining or heavy industry sector is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and their application.
