Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Full-Time Cloud Engineer to join our growing technology team in Epworth, Harare Province. As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security for our diverse range of services. You will work with cutting-edge cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP, contributing to architectural decisions and hands-on deployment. This role requires a strong understanding of cloud computing principles, automation tools, and best practices in cloud operations. You will be instrumental in migrating existing systems to the cloud, developing cloud-native applications, and continually improving our cloud environment through infrastructure as code (IaC) and robust monitoring solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to automate provisioning and configuration.
  • Monitor cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance, cost-efficiency, and adherence to security policies.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate cloud solutions and support application deployments.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment of cloud resources and applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues, ensuring minimal downtime and effective problem resolution.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Stay abreast of the latest cloud technologies, trends, and best practices, proposing and implementing improvements to our cloud strategy.

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (VPC, VPN, DNS, Load Balancing) in a cloud context.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD principles and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
  • Understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator Associate, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Engineer).
  • Experience with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) in a cloud environment.
  • Knowledge of serverless computing architectures.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
