Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Full-Time Property Manager to oversee the comprehensive management of Sarova Taita Hills Game Lodge’s diverse property portfolio. This pivotal role involves ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and strategic development of all lodge assets, including guest accommodations, staff residences, service areas, and expansive grounds. The ideal candidate will be responsible for upholding our high standards of quality, safety, and environmental stewardship, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies. You will be instrumental in maintaining the pristine condition of our facilities, managing budgets, supervising maintenance teams, and fostering excellent relations with all stakeholders, including guests, staff, and local community members. This role demands a proactive individual with strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a deep understanding of property management best practices in a unique hospitality and conservation environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day property operations, ensuring all facilities are well-maintained, safe, and fully functional.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance schedules and preventative programs for all buildings, infrastructure, and grounds.
  • Manage and supervise a team of maintenance staff, assigning tasks, providing training, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Prepare and manage property budgets, including operating expenses, capital improvements, and procurement of supplies and services.
  • Ensure compliance with all local regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental protection guidelines.
  • Coordinate and oversee external contractors and vendors for specialized services, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance needs, assess property conditions, and ensure adherence to brand standards.
  • Respond promptly to property-related issues and emergencies, implementing effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of property assets, maintenance activities, expenses, and tenant/staff housing agreements.
  • Foster positive relationships with lodge staff, guests, and local community members, addressing concerns professionally.
  • Contribute to long-term property planning and development initiatives, identifying opportunities for improvement and expansion.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Property Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in property management, preferably in a hospitality, commercial, or large residential setting.
  • Proven experience in budget management and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of property maintenance, building systems, and facility management best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in property management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or professional certification in Property Management (e.g., CPM, RICS).
  • Experience working in a remote or unique geographical location.
  • Knowledge of local Taita-Taveta County regulations and building codes.
  • Experience with environmental management systems or sustainable property practices.
  • Fluency in Swahili.
