Key Responsibilities

  • Design and document core gameplay mechanics, features, and systems for various game projects.
  • Create detailed game design documents, flowcharts, user stories, and specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (art, programming, audio, QA) to implement and refine designs.
  • Iterate on designs based on internal and external player feedback, extensive playtesting, and analytical data.
  • Balance game difficulty, pacing, and reward systems to ensure engaging and fair player experiences.
  • Contribute to narrative development, world-building, and character design to enhance immersion.
  • Champion player experience throughout the entire development lifecycle, advocating for player-centric design.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, game design methodologies, and competitor titles to inform design choices.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of target audience demographics and preferences.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Game Designer in the video game industry.
  • Proficiency in common game design tools (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, proprietary level editors).
  • Strong understanding of game mechanics, game balance, level design principles, and player psychology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating relevant game design work, including concepts, prototypes, or shipped titles.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with multiple game genres (e.g., RPG, FPS, puzzle) or platforms (PC, console, mobile).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., C#, Python) to prototype and implement basic features.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Previous experience working on a shipped AAA title or highly-rated indie game.
  • Experience mentoring junior designers or leading small design initiatives.
