As our Gardener, you will be responsible for the comprehensive care and upkeep of the estate’s extensive gardens, lawns, and common areas. Your daily tasks will include everything from precise lawn mowing and meticulous weeding to the careful pruning of shrubs and trees. You will ensure that all plant life is well-hydrated, healthy, and vibrant, contributing to an overall serene and inviting atmosphere. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine lawn care, including mowing, edging, and trimming.
  • Plant, water, fertilize, and prune flowers, shrubs, and trees according to established schedules and horticultural best practices.
  • Identify and control weeds, pests, and diseases using appropriate methods.
  • Maintain irrigation systems, ensuring proper watering and efficient water usage.
  • Keep garden beds, pathways, and common areas clean and free of debris.
  • Operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Monitor the health of all plants and address any issues promptly.
  • Contribute to the aesthetic appeal of the residential estate through careful landscape maintenance.
  • Report any significant landscape issues or equipment malfunctions to management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in general gardening or landscaping.
  • Knowledge of various plant types, soil conditions, and gardening techniques.
  • Ability to operate lawnmowers, trimmers, and other gardening equipment safely.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Reliable and punctual, particularly for morning shifts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A certificate or diploma in Horticulture or a related field.
  • Previous experience working on a residential estate or similar large property.
  • Familiarity with local Jamaican flora and environmental conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of irrigation system maintenance.
  • Valid Jamaican driver's license.
