Are you a proficient Geotechnical Engineer with a passion for solving complex ground engineering challenges? Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team in Delta, British Columbia. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from large-scale infrastructure development and commercial buildings to environmental assessments and landslide mitigation.

As a key member of the engineering team, you will apply your in-depth knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles to design and implement robust geotechnical solutions. Your role will involve conducting detailed site investigations, analyzing subsurface conditions, and developing practical, cost-effective designs that meet project specifications and regulatory requirements. You will be instrumental in preparing comprehensive technical reports, proposals, and specifications, ensuring clarity and accuracy in all documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive geotechnical site investigations, including drilling supervision, test pit logging, and in-situ testing.
  • Perform detailed engineering analysis for foundations, retaining structures, slopes, and ground improvement techniques.
  • Develop practical and innovative geotechnical designs, calculations, and specifications in accordance with industry standards and codes.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and professional technical reports, proposals, and project documentation.
  • Provide construction-phase support, including reviewing contractor submissions, site inspections, and addressing field queries.
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of geotechnical engineering practices, software, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation and client relationship building.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia, or eligibility to register within 6 months.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering consulting.
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation design principles.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, SLOPE/W, WALLAP).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for site visits.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with specific local geological conditions in British Columbia.
  • Familiarity with seismic design principles and applications.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
  • PMP certification or demonstrated project management experience.
