Key Responsibilities
- Perform field observations and testing, including soil compaction testing, concrete sampling, and asphalt density testing.
- Assist with geotechnical investigations, including drilling oversight, soil classification, and in-situ testing.
- Collect and transport soil, aggregate, and concrete samples from project sites to the laboratory.
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing and assist with basic laboratory tests such as moisture content and Atterberg limits.
- Accurately document all field and laboratory data, observations, and test results.
- Operate and maintain field and laboratory equipment in accordance with company safety standards and best practices.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and construction personnel.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies on job sites and in the laboratory.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or coursework in civil engineering technology, construction management, geology, or a related scientific field.
- Previous experience with construction materials testing (e.g., ACI, NICET certifications) is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with basic surveying techniques or GPS equipment.
