Key Responsibilities
- Identify and research potential grant opportunities from various sources (foundations, government, corporations, individuals).
- Develop and write compelling grant proposals, applications, letters of inquiry, reports, and stewardship communications with clear, concise, and persuasive language.
- Collaborate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders to gather comprehensive information, define project goals, and develop realistic and impactful budgets.
- Ensure all grant proposals adhere strictly to funder guidelines, submission deadlines, and specific requirements, maintaining high levels of accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain a detailed and organized calendar of grant opportunities, submission deadlines, and reporting requirements, proactively managing timelines.
- Track and report on the status of submitted proposals, funding outcomes, and grant compliance, preparing detailed analyses as needed.
- Cultivate and maintain strong, positive relationships with grant funders, program officers, and other key stakeholders.
- Assist in the development of compelling case statements, fundraising materials, and other collateral as needed to support broader development efforts.
- Stay informed about current funding trends, philanthropic landscapes, grant-making priorities, and best practices in grant writing and non-profit development.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, demonstrating clarity, conciseness, and persuasive argumentation.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated, progressive experience in grant writing and successfully securing significant funding.
- Proven ability to research, analyze, and synthesize complex information from various sources into clear, compelling, and strategic proposals.
- Strong project management, organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using grant research databases (e.g., GrantConnect, Foundation Directory Online) and online submission platforms.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple competing deadlines effectively, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with CRM software for tracking.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Non-profit Management, Public Relations, or a closely related field.
- Experience working with diverse non-profit sectors (e.g., arts & culture, education, health & wellness, social services, environmental causes).
- Familiarity with the Canadian philanthropic landscape, funding agencies, and grant-making processes within Quebec and nationally.
- Certification in Grant Writing (e.g., Grant Professional Certified – GPC or similar professional designation).
