Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Part-Time Greenhouse Planting Assistant to join our dedicated horticulture team in Amani, Zanzibar City. As a Greenhouse Planting Assistant, you will play a crucial role in nurturing our diverse plant collection, ensuring their health and vitality. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the planting, potting, and repotting of various plant species, including ornamentals, herbs, and young saplings.
- Perform regular watering, feeding, and fertilizing of plants according to established schedules and plant-specific needs.
- Prepare and mix different types of soil, compost, and growing media suitable for diverse plant requirements.
- Monitor plant health daily, identifying and reporting any signs of pests, diseases, or nutritional deficiencies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the greenhouse, nursery, and surrounding work areas.
- Execute pruning, weeding, and general plant maintenance tasks to ensure optimal growth and aesthetic appeal.
- Support the Head Gardener and other horticulture team members with various tasks as needed.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are properly cleaned, maintained, and stored after use.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of plant care principles and general horticulture practices.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

- Fluency in Swahili; working knowledge of English for team communication.
- Relevant certification or coursework in horticulture or agriculture.
