In this vital role, you will be the face of our commitment to freshness, ensuring our produce department is always vibrant, appealing, and stocked with the highest quality fruits and vegetables. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and inspect produce deliveries for quality, freshness, and accuracy, reporting discrepancies as needed.
- Efficiently stock and rotate produce items on shelves and display cases, ensuring proper FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures.
- Create and maintain attractive, well-stocked, and visually appealing produce displays.
- Monitor product freshness, identifying and removing expired or damaged items.
- Assist guests with product selection, offer recommendations, and answer questions about produce items, including preparation and storage.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the produce department, including equipment, floors, and storage areas.
- Operate and maintain department equipment, such as scales and price guns, safely and efficiently.
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and health and safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth store operations.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, including counting and reporting stock levels as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and freshness.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Basic math skills for weighing and pricing produce.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail grocery environment, particularly in a produce department.
- Familiarity with various types of fruits and vegetables and their handling requirements.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and procedures.
