Job Description

Are you passionate about working outdoors and have a knack for keeping properties looking their best? Unichip Construction is urgently seeking a dedicated and physically capable Grounds Maintenance team member to join our Mohale’s Hoek team with an immediate start. This is a crucial full-time role based in Khoelenya, where you will be instrumental in ensuring the pristine condition and safety of our managed properties and project sites. As a Grounds Maintenance worker, you will be responsible for a wide array of tasks that contribute to the aesthetic appeal, functionality, and environmental health of our various landscapes. This includes everything from routine lawn care and garden upkeep, involving meticulous mowing, precise trimming, and careful edging, to minor repairs and efficient waste management. We are looking for an individual who is reliable, pays close attention to detail, and takes immense pride in their work. The successful candidate will be expected to operate various groundskeeping tools and equipment safely and efficiently, demonstrating a proactive approach to site maintenance and identifying potential issues before they escalate. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, edging lawns, and weeding garden beds.
  • Plant, cultivate, prune, and fertilize trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plants.
  • Clear debris, leaves, and litter from grounds, pathways, and common areas.
  • Operate and maintain various groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Conduct minor repairs to fences, irrigation systems, and other outdoor structures as needed.
  • Assist with irrigation system checks and basic maintenance.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and company policies while performing duties.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor promptly.
  • Assist with seasonal tasks such as planting, mulching, and preparing grounds for different weather conditions.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, orderly, and attractive environment across all assigned properties.
  • Support other team members and supervisors as required for special projects or urgent tasks.

Required Skills

  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate basic grounds maintenance equipment (mowers, trimmers).
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Basic understanding of plant care and garden maintenance.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining pristine grounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a related field (at least 6 months).
  • Valid driver's license (Code 8/B or higher) is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of different plant types common in Lesotho.
  • Experience with minor repair work (e.g., fencing, basic irrigation).
  • Certification in operating specific heavy groundskeeping machinery, if applicable.
