Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging gymnastics classes for various age groups and skill levels, from beginner to intermediate.
  • Instruct participants in proper gymnastics techniques, body mechanics, and safety procedures across different apparatus (floor, vault, bars, beam).
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, continuously monitoring adherence to safety rules and performing basic first aid when necessary.
  • Develop and implement creative lesson plans that are progressive, age-appropriate, and aligned with program goals for physical and skill development.
  • Provide constructive feedback and positive encouragement to participants, tracking their progress and celebrating achievements big and small.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with participants, parents, and guardians regarding class activities, individual progress, and any concerns.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and assist with program administration, including class registration and scheduling, as required.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings, ongoing training sessions, and special community events or exhibitions as assigned by program management.
  • Set up and dismantle gymnastics equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring all apparatus are in proper working order and stored correctly.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in gymnastics instruction or coaching, preferably with children and youth (ages 3-16).
  • Strong foundational knowledge of gymnastics fundamentals, progressive techniques, and comprehensive safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills to engage and inspire participants.
  • Ability to manage a class effectively, maintain discipline, and adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Demonstrated patience, enthusiasm, and a consistently positive attitude in a dynamic instructional setting.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire and maintain throughout employment).
  • Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check and child abuse clearance in accordance with state regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • USAG (USA Gymnastics) professional membership and/or recognized coaching certifications.
  • Prior experience in competitive gymnastics or advanced recreational programs, either as a participant or instructor.
  • Specific experience working with different age groups, such as preschool, elementary school-age, or teenagers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to choreograph routines for exhibitions or lead advanced skill training for higher-level gymnasts.
