Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of hair services including cutting, styling, colouring, perming, and various treatments for men, women, and children.
- Consult with clients to understand their hair care needs, preferences, and provide professional advice on styles and treatments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic workstation and salon environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Manage client appointments, process payments, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Recommend and sell hair care products to clients, educating them on usage and benefits.
- Stay updated with the latest hair trends, techniques, and product knowledge through continuous learning and training.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to encourage repeat business and client loyalty.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth salon operations and a positive atmosphere.
- Handle client complaints or concerns professionally and effectively.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in various hair cutting techniques (e.g., blunt cut, layers, graduation).
- Expertise in hair colouring applications (e.g., highlights, lowlights, full colour, balayage).
- Strong hair styling abilities (e.g., blowouts, up-dos, braiding, curling).
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and precision in all tasks.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene standards in a salon environment.
- Strong portfolio showcasing previous work (physical or digital).
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant cosmetology or hairdressing diploma/certificate from a recognized institution.
- Experience with African hair types and specific styling techniques.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for scheduling and point-of-sale systems.
