Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, whilst promoting independence.
  • Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and accurately document observations.
  • Support nurses in clinical procedures and treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised environment for patients and staff.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring a smooth and supportive process.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Promptly report any changes in a patient's condition or concerns to the nursing staff.
  • Contribute to the implementation of care plans, offering insights based on direct patient interaction.
  • Accurately document all care provided and observations made in patient records.

Required Skills

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification)
  • Minimum of 12 months experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a clinical setting
  • Strong understanding of patient care principles and safeguarding adults
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Proficiency in basic life support
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused approach
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within NHS hospitals or community settings
  • Experience with electronic patient record systems
  • Specialised training in areas such as venepuncture or ECG monitoring
  • Full UK driving license and access to own transport
