Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, whilst promoting independence.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and accurately document observations.
- Support nurses in clinical procedures and treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised environment for patients and staff.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring a smooth and supportive process.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Promptly report any changes in a patient's condition or concerns to the nursing staff.
- Contribute to the implementation of care plans, offering insights based on direct patient interaction.
- Accurately document all care provided and observations made in patient records.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification)
- Minimum of 12 months experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a clinical setting
- Strong understanding of patient care principles and safeguarding adults
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Proficiency in basic life support
- Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused approach
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working within NHS hospitals or community settings
- Experience with electronic patient record systems
- Specialised training in areas such as venepuncture or ECG monitoring
- Full UK driving license and access to own transport
