Key Responsibilities
- Assist service users with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and hygiene needs, always maintaining dignity and respect.
- Support individuals with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Aid with feeding and hydration, ensuring dietary requirements are met and promoting a positive mealtime experience.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) accurately, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Document care provided, observations, and any changes in condition clearly and concisely.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, engaging service users in meaningful activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for service users.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, care plans, and organisational policies.
- Communicate effectively with service users, their families, and the wider care team.
- Assist with medication administration under the direct supervision of a qualified nurse (where applicable and trained).
Required Skills
- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar care role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work compassionately and empathetically.
- Strong understanding of dignity, respect, and privacy in care.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills for record-keeping.
- Right to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with dementia care or palliative care.
- Manual handling training.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service.
