Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on heavy equipment, including inspections, lubrication, and fluid changes.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.
- Execute comprehensive repairs and overhauls of engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, and other major components.
- Conduct thorough testing of repaired equipment to ensure proper functionality and adherence to safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and hours spent.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow and project completion.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior mechanics when required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Heavy Plant Fitter.
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic software and tools specific to heavy machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and repair diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, Construction Equipment Maintenance, or a related field.
- Experience with various brands and types of heavy machinery.
