Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) Class 1 (C+E) on local and regional routes.
- Perform pre-shift vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
- Ensure timely collection and delivery of goods to various destinations.
- Adhere strictly to all tachograph regulations, driver hours, and road traffic laws.
- Maintain accurate delivery records and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with transport managers and clients regarding delivery schedules or issues.
- Secure loads correctly and ensure goods are transported without damage.
- Represent the company professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) Driving Licence.
- Valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC) / CPC.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Proven experience as an HGV Class 1 Driver.
- Excellent understanding of road safety regulations and driver hours.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good geographical knowledge of the Selby and wider North Yorkshire area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Clean driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points).
- Experience with various types of trailers (e.g., curtainsiders, box trailers).
- Familiarity with modern vehicle tracking and communication systems.
