Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Home-Based Employee Relations Assistant to join our dedicated HR team, specifically supporting our operations based out of Manchester. This remote role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a world-class professional services firm from the comfort of your home, while remaining connected to our vibrant Manchester hub. As an Employee Relations Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a positive and productive work environment by supporting various employee relations initiatives and processes. You will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws, assisting with dispute resolution, and generally contributing to a fair and consistent application of HR practices. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong ethical compass, and the ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion and professionalism. You will be the first point of contact for employee queries related to HR policies and procedures, guiding them towards appropriate resources or escalating issues when necessary. This role offers significant exposure to the operational intricacies of a large, multinational professional services firm’s HR function, providing a robust foundation for a career in human resources or employee relations. You will collaborate closely with HR Business Partners, Legal teams, and other HR specialists across the UK to deliver comprehensive support. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Employee Relations team, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation related to employee relations matters, such as disciplinary actions, grievances, and performance improvement plans.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits, escalating complex issues to the appropriate HR professional.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all sensitive employee information and HR-related data.
  • Support the rollout and communication of new HR policies and employee relations initiatives.
  • Conduct initial research on employee relations issues and gather relevant data to aid in investigations.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and other HR specialists to ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices.
  • Assist with the tracking and reporting of employee relations metrics and trends.
  • Ensure all employee relations activities comply with current employment legislation and internal company policies.
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives as required, contributing to the continuous improvement of HR services.

Required Skills

  • Previous experience in an administrative or HR support role (minimum 12 months).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and autonomously in a remote environment.
  • Understanding of basic HR principles and best practices.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities and a strong client-service orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with UK employment law and employee relations processes.
  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors).
  • CIPD Foundation Certificate or working towards a relevant HR qualification.
