Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Home-Based Paralegal Officer to join our dynamic legal team. As a Home-Based Paralegal Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our solicitors across various departments, including but not limited to, property, private client, and dispute resolution. Your primary responsibilities will involve comprehensive legal research, drafting legal documents, managing case files, and ensuring meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of your work. While operating from your home office, you will be an integral part of our team, participating in virtual meetings, collaborating on projects, and upholding the high standards of Furley Page Solicitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using online databases and other resources.
  • Draft and prepare various legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, contracts, and other court filings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
  • Manage and organise physical and electronic client files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
  • Assist solicitors with case preparation, including gathering evidence, preparing bundles, and liaising with clients and third parties.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing diaries, and handling incoming communications.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and firm information.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, counsel, court staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Adhere to all relevant legal ethics and professional conduct rules.
  • Utilise case management software and other legal technology tools efficiently.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to ongoing firm projects.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant (minimum 2 years).
  • Solid understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
  • Excellent legal research skills with proficiency in online legal databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of organisational ability and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a home-based environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tasks.
  • A dedicated, professional home office setup with reliable internet connectivity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Law or a Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL).
  • Completion of a Paralegal Diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with specific case management systems (e.g., Clio, Actionstep).
  • Familiarity with various areas of law, particularly property, private client, or dispute resolution.
  • Experience working in a remote or hybrid role previously.
