Job Description
Are you an experienced and safety-conscious driver with a passion for hospitality and a deep knowledge of Zanzibar? Spice Island Hotel & Resort is seeking a professional and friendly Hotel Shuttle Bus Driver to join our vibrant team. This pivotal role involves providing safe, timely, and courteous transportation for our esteemed guests between the hotel, Zanzibar’s airport, and various local attractions. You will be the first and last impression for many of our guests, embodying our commitment to exceptional service and warm Zanzibari hospitality. We are looking for an individual who takes pride in maintaining their vehicle, navigating with expertise, and ensuring every journey is comfortable and enjoyable. Beyond driving, you will act as a valuable resource, offering insights into local culture and amenities, and assisting guests with their luggage. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and punctually transport hotel guests to and from Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ), local attractions, and other designated locations as per schedule.
- Assist guests with loading and unloading luggage and personal belongings, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the shuttle bus, ensuring it is in excellent working condition, clean, and well-maintained.
- Report any vehicle malfunctions, accidents, or incidents immediately to the management.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, mileage records, and fuel consumption reports.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws and hotel safety policies and procedures.
- Provide friendly, professional, and knowledgeable service to guests, answering questions about the hotel and local area.
- Ensure the shuttle bus interior is always clean, tidy, and presentable.
- Assist in other guest service duties as required by hotel management.
Required Skills
- Valid professional driving license (Class D or equivalent for bus/passenger transport)
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a hospitality or tourism setting
- Excellent driving record with no major violations
- Strong knowledge of Zanzibar roads, traffic laws, and key attractions
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to assist guests with luggage and special needs
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge (e.g., checking oil, tire pressure, fluid levels)
- Fluency in English (verbal)
- Punctual, reliable, and responsible
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a driver for a luxury hotel or resort
- Familiarity with first aid procedures and emergency protocols
- Ability to communicate in Swahili or other international languages
- A clean, professional appearance and demeanor
- Experience in operating vehicles with varying passenger capacities
