Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Housekeeping Supervisor to join our dedicated team at Avani Maseru Hotel with an immediate start. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the housekeeping team, including housekeepers and public area attendants.
- Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation.
- Train new housekeeping staff and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to existing team members.
- Create and manage staff schedules, assign tasks, and monitor completion to ensure efficient workflow.
- Monitor and manage inventory of cleaning supplies, linen, and guest amenities, ensuring adequate stock levels and minimizing waste.
- Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests and complaints, ensuring swift resolution and exceptional service recovery.
- Collaborate effectively with other hotel departments such as Front Office, Maintenance, and Food & Beverage to ensure seamless operations.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and sanitation standards and company policies.
- Assist in the preparation of reports on room status, lost and found items, and departmental performance.
- Operate and maintain departmental equipment safely and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Uphold the hotel's brand standards and commitment to delivering an outstanding guest experience.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a housekeeping role within a reputable hotel environment.
- At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity within housekeeping.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality standards.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, as per operational needs.
- Familiarity with various cleaning techniques, products, and equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or certificate in Hospitality Management or a related field.
- Proficiency in local languages (e.g., Sesotho) is a distinct advantage.
- Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS) and housekeeping software.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations specific to the hospitality industry.
