Key Responsibilities
- Design, specify, and oversee the installation of HVAC systems for various building types, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
- Perform detailed load calculations, system sizing, and energy simulations.
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports using AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software.
- Conduct site surveys, inspections, and commissioning of HVAC systems to verify proper installation and operation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC system issues, proposing and implementing effective solutions.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and project managers to integrate HVAC designs seamlessly into overall building plans.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure timely and cost-efficient project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes in HVAC engineering and sustainable design.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in HVAC system design and engineering.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, CIBSE guides, and relevant British Standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrable understanding of energy efficiency principles and sustainable design practices.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with building energy modeling software (e.g., IES-VE, Hevacomp).
- Familiarity with BREEAM or other sustainability assessment methodologies.
- Project management experience in an engineering consultancy or contracting environment.
