The Import Export Clerk Trade Desk is responsible for preparing, processing, and tracking all necessary paperwork for international shipments, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and customs declarations. You will liaise directly with freight forwarders, customs agents, suppliers, and clients to ensure all documentation is accurate and submitted on time. A key aspect of this role involves staying updated on ever-evolving international trade regulations, tariffs, and customs procedures to ensure full compliance and avoid delays or penalties. You will also be tasked with resolving any discrepancies or issues that arise during the shipping process, requiring strong problem-solving skills and a calm demeanor under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, process, and manage all import and export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, customs declarations, and certificates of origin.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and internal departments to ensure timely and efficient shipment processing.
- Track and monitor the status of international shipments from origin to destination, providing regular updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure full compliance with all local and international trade regulations, customs laws, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all import/export transactions and supporting documents.
- Resolve discrepancies, delays, or issues related to shipments, customs clearance, or documentation promptly and effectively.
- Communicate professionally with suppliers, clients, and service providers to facilitate smooth trade operations.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of duty drawback claims or other customs-related applications.
- Stay updated on changes in trade regulations, tariffs, and international shipping procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Import Export Clerk or similar role in trade/logistics.
- In-depth understanding of international trade documentation and procedures.
- Familiarity with customs regulations in Kenya and East Africa.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
