We are seeking a dedicated and proactive IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic technology team at Boots UK in Nottingham. Key Responsibilities
- Provide first and second-line technical support to internal users via phone, email, and in-person, resolving hardware, software, and network issues efficiently.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and other IT peripherals.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights within Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and other enterprise systems.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to operating systems (Windows, macOS), office applications (Microsoft Office Suite), and proprietary software.
- Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate senior IT teams or third-party vendors, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication.
- Maintain accurate records of all support requests, incidents, and resolutions using our IT service management (ITSM) platform (e.g., ServiceNow).
- Assist with IT equipment procurement, deployment, inventory management, and decommissioning processes.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of IT documentation, knowledge base articles, and user guides.
- Participate in IT projects, system upgrades, and migrations as required, supporting new technology rollouts.
- Provide basic network troubleshooting, including connectivity, Wi-Fi, and VPN issues.
- Educate users on IT best practices and security awareness.
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in an IT Support or Help Desk role within a corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11) and Microsoft Office 365 applications.
- Experience with Active Directory user and group management.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware components, software applications, and network connectivity issues.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Desk) for incident and request management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) or Microsoft 365 Certified.
- Experience with basic PowerShell scripting.
- Familiarity with enterprise-level networking concepts and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of ITIL framework and best practices.
- Experience supporting macOS environments.
