Thompson Rivers University is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated IT Workflow Documentation Assistant to join our dynamic Information Technology Services (ITS) team. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation, maintenance, and organization of comprehensive IT documentation, including process flows, user manuals, knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collaborate with IT specialists, technicians, and project managers to gather information, understand existing workflows, and identify areas for documentation improvement.
  • Translate complex technical concepts and procedures into clear, concise, and accessible language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain the accuracy and currency of existing documentation by conducting regular reviews and updates.
  • Utilize documentation tools and platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence) to publish and manage documentation.
  • Support the ITS team in developing and implementing documentation standards and best practices.
  • Participate in meetings and workshops to record discussions, decisions, and action items related to IT processes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation processes and tools within the department.
  • Provide administrative support to the IT department as needed, related to documentation and information management.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong command of English grammar and style.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A self-starter with a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of general IT concepts and a strong willingness to learn technical information quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion or active pursuit of a post-secondary diploma or degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Communications, English, or a related field.
  • Previous experience (academic or professional) in creating or maintaining documentation.
  • Familiarity with knowledge management systems or collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence).
  • Exposure to IT service management (ITSM) principles or frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
