Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and thorough cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors in all designated areas.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, ensuring all fixtures are spotless and hygienic, and replenish supplies regularly.
  • Empty and clean trash receptacles, ensuring proper waste disposal in accordance with council guidelines.
  • Dust and wipe down all surfaces, including desks, tables, shelves, and window sills.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions.
  • Replenish facility supplies such as toilet paper, hand soap, paper towels, and other consumables as needed.
  • Report any observed maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines and use cleaning chemicals safely and effectively.
  • Assist with the setup and take down of tables, chairs, and other equipment for community events or meetings.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, notifying the supervisor when replenishment is required.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring standing, bending, lifting (up to 20kg), and walking for extended periods.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.
  • Strong reliability, punctuality, and a consistent work ethic.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Good basic communication skills (English and/or Sesotho).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (e.g., 6 months to 1 year) in a janitorial, custodial, or professional cleaning role.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and best practices related to cleaning and waste management.
