As a Janitorial Worker, you will be an integral part of our daily operations, taking immense pride in meticulously maintaining cleanliness across all designated areas of the store. Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming all floor surfaces, as well as polishing various fixtures and surfaces.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize all restrooms (customer and staff), including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors, ensuring all paper products and soap dispensers are restocked.
- Regularly empty all waste bins and transport trash to designated disposal and recycling areas in accordance with company guidelines.
- Clean and maintain the cleanliness of all windows, glass doors, and entranceways to ensure a consistently sparkling and inviting appearance.
- Routinely dust and wipe down furniture, display fixtures, shelving, and equipment.
- Promptly and efficiently clean up spills, messes, and other potential hazards to maintain a safe environment.
- Ensure impeccable cleanliness in staff break rooms, locker rooms, and office spaces.
- Actively monitor store premises and promptly report any observed maintenance needs, equipment malfunctions, or potential safety hazards to management.
- Properly maintain, clean, and store all cleaning equipment and supplies after each use, ensuring their longevity and operational readiness.
- Strictly adhere to all company health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures at all times.
- Provide support to the wider store team by assisting with other ad-hoc tasks as required to maintain the overall presentation and functionality of the store.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable experience (at least 1 year) in a janitorial, commercial cleaning, or similar role.
- Proficiency in operating various cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, industrial vacuum cleaners, and pressure washers.
- Sound knowledge of different cleaning chemicals, supplies, and their safe, appropriate handling and storage.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to thoroughness in completing all assigned tasks.
- Good physical stamina, including the ability to lift moderate weights (up to 20kg), stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
- Proven reliability, punctuality, and a strong, consistent work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and as a collaborative team member.
- Basic understanding of hygiene, sanitation, and infection control standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent educational background.
- Previous experience working specifically in a high-traffic retail or commercial facility environment.
- Familiarity with comprehensive waste management, recycling procedures, and environmentally friendly cleaning practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, either in basic English or Sesotho.
