Career.zycto is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Journalist – Reporting & Media Specialist to join our growing team in Vallee Pitot, Port Louis. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough research, gather information, and verify facts from multiple credible sources.
- Interview sources, subjects, and experts to obtain accurate and relevant information.
- Write clear, concise, engaging, and error-free news articles, features, and reports for various platforms.
- Produce multimedia content, including photos, videos, and audio, to enhance storytelling.
- Adhere to strict deadlines and journalistic ethics and standards, including impartiality and accuracy.
- Investigate leads and develop original story ideas relevant to local and national interests.
- Collaborate with editors, photographers, videographers, and other team members.
- Stay updated on current events, trends, and issues in Mauritius and globally.
- Contribute to social media engagement strategies to promote content and interact with audiences.
- Attend press conferences, public events, and other assignments as required.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and French (Creole is an asset).
- Proven ability to conduct in-depth research and fact-checking.
- Strong interviewing and investigative reporting skills.
- Proficiency in content management systems and digital publishing tools.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated understanding of journalistic ethics and media law.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a journalist, reporter, or content creator.
- Experience with multimedia storytelling (photography, videography, audio editing).
- Familiarity with SEO best practices for news content.
- A portfolio of published articles, reports, or multimedia projects.
