As a Junior Accountant Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting various accounting functions. Your work will directly contribute to the smooth operation of our financial department, ensuring compliance and providing timely financial data for decision-making. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
- Process and verify invoices, expense reports, and other financial documents.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts regularly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and journals.
- Support the senior accounting staff with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries as required.
- Assist in data entry and administrative tasks for the finance department.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Respond to financial inquiries and provide support to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Required Skills
- OND/HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- A strong desire to learn and grow in the accounting profession.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or a minimum of 6 months experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Sage).
- Progress towards a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA).
