As a Lab Technician specializing in Diagnostic Testing, you will be integral to the daily operations of our state-of-the-art laboratory. Your contribution will directly assist clinicians in diagnosing diseases, monitoring treatment effectiveness, and improving patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, and process patient samples according to established protocols.
  • Perform a variety of diagnostic tests, including but not limited to PCR, immunoassay, and biochemical analyses, using both automated and manual techniques.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and troubleshooting minor issues as they arise.
  • Execute quality control procedures, record data accurately, and identify any deviations or anomalies.
  • Analyze test results, interpret findings, and accurately enter data into the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
  • Prepare reagents, media, and other solutions as required for testing procedures.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Participate in laboratory accreditation and proficiency testing programs to maintain high standards.
  • Maintain meticulous records of experiments, results, and equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and efficient service delivery.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in a diagnostic or clinical laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency in performing molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR) and/or immunoassay techniques (e.g., ELISA).
  • Demonstrated ability to operate, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all laboratory procedures and data recording.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and quality control principles.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HCPC registration or working towards it.
  • Experience with advanced diagnostic platforms and automation.
  • Familiarity with ISO 15189 accreditation standards.
  • Previous experience in a UKAS accredited laboratory.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions.
