Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Lab Technician to join our innovative Research & Development team based in Longville Park, May Pen. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute routine laboratory experiments and procedures under supervision, accurately following established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and samples for analytical testing and experimental use.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and cleanliness.
  • Accurately record and document experimental data, observations, and results in lab notebooks and electronic systems.
  • Perform basic data entry and assist in preliminary analysis of experimental outcomes.
  • Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering supplies, receiving shipments, and organizing storage areas.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist senior researchers with experimental setup, execution, and breakdown.
  • Participate in laboratory meetings and contribute to discussions regarding project progress and challenges.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory workspace.

Required Skills

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of general laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory equipment operation (e.g., pH meters, centrifuges, spectrophotometers).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a university or industrial laboratory setting (internship or volunteer experience welcomed).
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or ISO standards.
  • Experience with basic analytical techniques such as chromatography or spectroscopy.
