Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory samples, reagents, and media according to established protocols.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal performance and accurate results.
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks such as glassware washing, sterilisation, and waste disposal.
  • Assist scientists and senior technicians with experimental setups and data collection.
  • Manage and maintain laboratory inventory, including ordering and stocking supplies.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations and quality control standards.
  • Document experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately and meticulously.
  • Participate in laboratory meetings and contribute to a collaborative research environment.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.

Required Skills

  • A-Levels in science subjects or equivalent vocational qualification.
  • Demonstrable understanding of basic laboratory techniques and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently when required.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Science).
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory setting (academic or industrial).
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) or ISO standards.
  • Experience with specific laboratory equipment relevant to biochemistry or molecular biology.
